Carlos Melgar - Employee Spotlight November 2022
Our November Employee Spotlight shines on Carlos Melgar, our Branch Manager for Scott’s Turf Equipment located in Manassas, Virginia. Carlos’ main mission is keeping our wide variety of lawn & garden inventory moving out of the door to not only our loyal customers but building relationships with new ones. Scott’s Turf Equipment is known for their large selection of Stihl, Toro, and Honda equipment and their parts/accessories. He says in the middle of those tasks, there is one very important “keep a good relationship with customers” satisfying them from their initial purchase to servicing the equipment as needed.
Carlos began working in the industry when he joined Scott’s Turf Equipment 19 years ago in 2004. Over the years he has completed 2 years in College for Engineering and 4 years in accounting! Along with that he has completed numerous trainings provided by Toro, Honda, and Stihl, even completing a Silver Level Technician certification from Stihl.
In his spare time, Carlos likes to play the acoustic guitar but says the best time is spent with his family. He says his hidden talent is using statistics and applying it to his every day routine! When asked about his favorite memory, he says traveling the world with his Father since he was two years old... And his biggest adventure was going to Angola and South Africa! His Father is also his biggest inspiration because he taught Carlos his love for Accounting, Mechanics, Mathematics, and learning new languages.
Carlos’ favorite part about his job is the collaborative teamwork he has with his staff at Scott’s Turf Equipment, helping them out every day, and smiling faces from customers. He says the biggest thing he has learned is that hard work will be rewarded, which is why we are proud to have Carlos as our November Employee Spotlight! Carlos’ positive attitude and hard work does not go unnoticed from our staff and customers.
